Petitioning

collecting signatures and turning them in
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY & ENTIRELY BEFORE YOU START PETITIONING

Thank you for doing whatever you can do to help the Bill and all of the Libertarian Party of Illinois (LPIL) candidates achieve ballot access for the November 2022 General Election. Your volunteer signatures mean more this year than ever before.

Click here for a copy of the petition.

The petition drive begins on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, and petitions can be circulated until Sunday, July 10, 2022. If you intend to mail your notarized petitions to our collection center, please be sure to mail them no later than July 5, 2022 so they arrive in time to be included on filing day (Monday, July 11, 2022).

A printable pdf file of the LPIL 2022 petition for our statewide candidates is HERE. The petition must be printed one-sided on white letter size (8.5” x 11”) paper.

Please ask everyone you can to sign the petition, but please ask if they are a registered voter first. A signer should sign their signatures, NEATLY print their name, write their residence street address or Rural Route Number at which they are registered to vote (IMPORTANT: the address needs to match their residential address in the State Board of Elections database), their City, Town or Village and their County. All five data items must be included on the petition. Signers should avoid abbreviations of cities, towns, and streets (for example, signers in Lake in the Hills, IL should write “Lake in the Hills” instead of abbreviating as “LITH”). We strongly recommend you check the legibility of the printed information before the signer walks away.

You can sign a petition for which you are the circulator.

When you are done gathering signatures on a petition sheet(s), you must have your petition sheet notarized by an Illinois Notary Public. At the bottom of each sheet, while you can fill out your name, street or RR address, city, county and state information ahead of time, you MUST sign your name on the Circulator’s Signature line ONLY when in front of the Notary Public. All petition sheets must be signed by the petition circulator for that sheet and be notarized.

While there is page numbering at the bottom of the petition, please do not number the petitions you circulate. LP Illinois will number all pages when we compile all of the petitions and assemble them together.

Please frequently report to Bill Redpath at bill.redpath@lp.org the number of signatures that you possess. It is important for us to know how many signatures are out there.

Please don’t let your signatures pile up in your possession. Please mail them frequently to Bill at 1303 Westley Lane, West Dundee, IL 60118-3545. Please email Bill or call him at 703-864-2132 with any questions or concerns. Thank you for helping make this petition drive a success this year.
